PATCHWORK MIDI DOUBLE CORSET COCKTAIL DRESS

Patchwork midi double corset cocktail dress. Made from my scrap vintage fabric. It has 48 grommets on the left side and 44 on the right side. Giving a total of 92 grommets. Accented with neon green cord as the drawstrings. The whole garment has a quilted like appearance. All the fabric is fused with zig-zag stitching. I purposely left the top and bottom edges raw. I only hemmed the sides to strengthen the area where the grommets were set. This dress is very flexible. It will accommodate for a range of different body sizes. This dress is considered a size small. This dress came together by playing around with the 22 panes I made. Placing and experimenting with the different panels to see if I could piece something together to form a garment. With a bit of luck and imagination I create this dress.

I don’t like to throw anything away and have it end up in a landfill. Over the years I have saved all my cuts and remnants of all my materials. Stored them in bags. It was starting to take up more space in my studio than I wanted. So I took all seven bags of vintage material I had accumulated and turned them into 22 panels. Transforming this discarded vintage material into beautiful patchwork panels. To be further transformed into beautiful garments.
