OCTOPUS PAINTING JACKET
OCTOPUS PAINTING JACKET
ONE-OF-ONE · 2026
The Octopus Painting Jacket is a one-of-one wearable artwork transformed from an original painting created during Addison Stonestreet’s college years. After being exhibited several times and later spending years in storage, the painting was cut and reconstructed into a jacket—giving the canvas an entirely new life.
Constructed from heavyweight 12-ounce primed canvas, the jacket presented unusual technical challenges. The rigid material was difficult to shape around curved seams, so each seam was reinforced with topstitching for strength. As the jacket is worn, the painted surface will gradually soften and develop natural cracking, allowing movement and time to become part of the artwork.
The jacket is finished with four functional pockets—two front welt pockets and two concealed side pockets—and an ocean-themed lining whose colors echo the painted exterior.

OCTOPUS PAINTING JACKET
Created from an original heavyweight canvas painting, the Octopus Painting Jacket transforms a bold aquatic composition into one-of-one wearable art. Reinforced topstitching, four functional pockets, and an ocean-themed lining complete the piece as its painted surface gradually softens and changes through wear.

Process photographs document the transformation of the original 12-ounce painted canvas into a structured jacket, from cutting and shaping the rigid material to reinforcing the seams, constructing the pockets, and adding the ocean-themed lining.
