OCTOPUS PAINTING JACKET
The octopus painting jacket was originally a painting I created back in my college years. It has been sitting in my parents basement for years. I have shown it many times in the past. So after making three other jackets from my scraps of canvas and other paintings. I decided to tackle this one too. It had its challenges. For instance it is a much heavier canvas, 12oz. The other jacket I made was 7oz. This canvas is primed as well. So sewing it was very difficult. Especially when it came to the rounded edges. It did not flex well. Finally I did manage to sew it together. The paint is slowly cracking which I like. As it slowly softens and breaks the layer of gesso and paint. Eventually it will move very easy. But for a while it will remain stiff. I reinforced all the stitches with top stitches. So it doesn’t pull apart.
It has four pockets. Two front welt pockets. Two hidden side pockets. The lining is cool. It is also ocean themed. With similar colors. So it vibes with the exterior really well.
